The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has initiated its own inquiry into the murder of a Slovak tourist on Boracay Island. On Tuesday, March 18, police confirmed that an NBI team had examined the chapel of an abandoned hotel where 23-year-old Michaela Mickova was discovered deceased on March 12. NBI investigators scoured the crime scene for evidence on Saturday, March 15.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has identified three persons of interest in connection with the case, with two currently in custody. Witness testimonies have played a crucial role in the investigation, and law enforcement is actively working to collect evidence to ensure justice is served. While specific details have not been released, authorities stated that Mickova suffered from a head hematoma but had no visible injuries. The cause of the hematoma remains unknown. Following an autopsy, Mickova's body was cremated at her family's request; her remains are expected to be sent back to Slovakia shortly.
